Delta Star® Air-Cooled Chillers

Easy installation anywhere with good ventilation.

Aqua Logic’s Delta Star® in-line TITANIUM water chillers were first introduced to the aquatic market in 1989 and quickly became the industry standard for their quality craftsmanship and exceptional performance. For more than 25 years that same attention to detail has gone into every unit we’ve manufactured.

  • Maintains water temperatures in the range of 40° – 80°F (*see specifications)
  • Oversized helical titanium coil in the heat exchanger maximizes BTU transfer efficiency.
  • TITANIUM is the only heat exchanger material proven to be 100% fish and coral safe in saltwater systems.
  • Quiet, internal, spring mounted hermetic motor/compressor provides years of reliable service.
  • Low profile and compact design allows for easy placement in tight places.

Applications:

  • Living Exhibits
  • Research
  • Lobster and Seafood Holding tanks
  • Hydroponics
  • Home Aquariums
  • Cold plunge tubs
  • Animal hydrotherapy

System Requirements:

  • An external pump is required with Delta Star chillers to move water thru the heat exchanger. Pump not included.
  • Observe min/max flow rates critical to chiller operation in ‘Specifications’ table
  • Chiller must not be placed in a confined space, as restricted air flow will limit the efficiency and lifespan of the chiller unit. Do not restrict airflow by placing unit in a cabinet or closet.
  • A Cold Water Cap Tube (CWCT) is required for desired water temps between 50-65F on available models. Standard units operate in the range of 65-85 F.  Call to order.
  • A Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) is required for lower desired water temps between 40-80F on available models. Standard units operate in the range of 65-85 F. Call to order.

The following tables can be used to determine the appropriate Delta Star Chiller Model chiller for your application.

Tables display the maximum water volume (Gallons) that can be maintained at a range of temperature differences below the ambient air temperature.

Please note that the tables make the following assumptions, and that for more accurate sizing or complex systems you should contact Aqua Logic for assistance:

    • Calculations based on a closed recirculating system with chiller running full time.
    • Calculations based on a simple system with one pump, 3x per hour water turnover rate, and fluorescent lighting.
    • Please consult Aqua Logic for proper sizing if using multiple pumps, protein skimmers, high intensity lighting, or other such variables.

Note: For Polypropylene/ethylene multiply gallons x 0.8= net gallons.

    Standard

    • Ideal for tropical aquariums and warm water exhibits, or research applications.
    • Capillary tube size allows a fixed amount of refrigerant to enter the titanium coil of the heat exchanger.
    • Amount of refrigerant does not need to change since the water temperature is being maintained at a constant.

    ‘CWCT’ (Cold Water Cap Tube)

    • Allows for a lower, but more limited temperature range.
    • Ideal for bait fish holding, temperate fish exhibits, and hydroponics.
    • Capillary tube size allows a fixed amount of refrigerant to enter the titanium coil of the heat exchanger.
    • Amount of refrigerant does not need to change since the water temperature is being maintained at a constant.

    “TXV” (Thermal Expansion Valve)

    • Provides both the lowest water temperature and the most broad temperature range.
    • Required for applications where the unit will need to maintain a very cold temperature.
    • Ideal for lobster tanks, cold water fish exhibits, or research applications.
    • The thermal expansion valve constantly regulates the amount of refrigerant going to the heat exchanger based on the desired water temperature.
